itinerarY

DAY 1

- Reception at La Macarena airport

- Visit to Cormacarena and National Parks facilities to receive an introductory talk about the PNN Sierra de La Macarena.

- Baggage pick up (depending on the schedule of the Cormacarena talk, bags are picked up before or after the talk). Stop at the La Manigua Lodge office to check in, load our water bottles and get ready for the hike.

- Transfer to the Guayabero River to embark on a wooden canoe with our luggage to our first visit of the trip: Caño Cristalitos.

- 20 minutes navigation upstream on the Guaybero River, spotting wildlife on the banks of the river until we arrive at the farm where we will get ready for the hike.

- 25 minutes ascent to El Mirador, a point on the mountain range with an exceptional view where our guide will talk to us about the ecosystems of La Macarena and the social history of the municipality. The lunch spot varies according to the time we start the hike.

- 45 minute hike to Caño Cristalitos, where we can swim and have our first contact with the Macarenia clavigera, the famous plant that gives Caño Cristales its colors.

- A 45 minute walk back to Guayabero to meet our canoe.

- Transfer 15 min by canoe to La Manigua Lodge.

- Check-in at La Manigua Lodge.

- Afternoon rest with possible monkey watching from the cabins.

- Dinner at La Manigua Lodge

DAY

- Breakfast at La Manigua Lodge. The time of our departure will be randomly assigned by Cormacarena and National Parks (it can be between 7am and 9am).

- Canoe transfer downstream on the Guayabero River (15 min)

- We will take a 4x4 truck ride into the Sierra de La Macarena National Park (40min)

- Arrival at the National Parks reception center, where we will prepare for the hike with a brief warm-up.

- We will hike for 30 minutes until we reach our desired destination: Caño Cristales.

- Once we are in Caño Cristales, we will start the trail that the environmental entities have assigned us.

- We will be in the National Park for about 7 hours, during which time we will walk the trail, have lunch, swim in natural pools and take many pictures of the colors and waterfalls of this wonderful river.

- At the end of the tour, we will return by the same route we did in the morning until we return to La Manigua Lodge.

- In the afternoon, we will have a cultural activity that you can't miss at La Manigua, which we are sure you will love.

- Dinner at La Manigua Lodge

DAY

- Breakfast at La Manigua Lodge. The time of our departure will be randomly assigned by Cormacarena and National Parks (it can be between 7am and 9am).

- This day we will leave at once with our luggage ready in the canoe to make the most of our time in the canyon. Our luggage will follow in the canoe to La Macarena, where we will meet them at the end of the hike.

- Transfer by canoe downstream on the Guayabero River (15 min).

- We will take a 4x4 truck ride into the Sierra de La Macarena National Park (40 min).

- Arrival at the National Parks reception center, where we will prepare for the hike with a brief warm-up.

- Hike for 30 minutes to Caño Cristales.

- On this day we will walk through the lower basin of Caño Cristales, where this majestic river enters the jungle and the plants acquire an intense green coloration, which will give us a completely different image from the ones we met the day before.

- At the end of the hike we will return directly to La Macarena, where we will meet our bags to shower and get ready for lunch.

- Transfer to the airport and farewell.

If the return flight is very early on the last day, a sunrise over the Guayabero River is organized.

Day 1

- Reception at La Macarena airport.

Day 2

- We will take a 4x4 truck ride into the Sierra de La Macarena National Park (40min)

- Arrival at the National Parks reception center, where we will prepare for the hike with a short warm up - 30 minute walk until we reach our desired destination: Caño Cristales.

- Once we are in Caño Cristales, we will start the trail that the environmental entities have assigned us.

- In the National Park we will be around 7 hours, time in which we will be walking the trail, have lunch, swim in natural pools and take many pictures of the colors and waterfalls of this wonderful river.

- At the end of the tour, we will return by the same route we did in the morning until we return to La Manigua Lodge.

- In the afternoon we will have a cultural activity with our neighbors, where we will learn how to prepare chocolate using the cocoa fruit as raw material.

- Dinner at La Manigua Lodge

Day 3

- Desayuno en La Manigua Lodge. El horario de nuestra salida será asignado por Cormacarena y Parques Nacionales de manera aleatoria (puede estar entre las 7am y 9am)

- Traslado en canoa aguas abajo por el Río Guayabero (15 min)

- Haremos un recorrido en camioneta 4x4 adentrándonos en el PNN Sierra de La Macarena (40min)

- Llegada al centro de recibimiento de Parques Nacionales, donde nos prepararemos para la caminata haciendo un breve calentamiento.

- Caminata de 30 minutos hasta llegar a Caño Cristales.

- En este día recorreremos la cuenca baja de Caño Cristales, donde este majestuoso caño entra en la selva y las plantas adquieren una coloración verde intensa, que nos dará una imagen completamente distinta de los que conocimos el día anterior. 

La visita a este sector estará sujeta a la disponibilidad a la hora de solicitarlo. Si nos asignan otro sendero, será distinto al

del día anterior e igual de majestuoso. Durante el recorrido almorzaremos, nos bañaremos en piscinas naturales y tomaremos muchas fotos.

- Al finalizar el recorrido, regresaremos por la misma ruta que hicimos en la mañana hasta regresar a La Manigua Lodge.

- En la tarde nos espera una actividad cultural imperdible propia de La Manigua, que con seguridad te va a encantar.

- Cena en La Manigua Lodge

Day 4

- Breakfast at La Manigua Lodge. Departure time will be defined according to the time of the return flight.

- We will walk out of La Manigua Reserve to meet our horses.

This walk takes 15 minutes.

- We will ride for 60 minutes through morichales and hills of the highlands, very characteristic of the

characteristic of the llanero landscape until we reach Caño Piedra. If we have time, we will take the opportunity to swim in a pool of crystal clear water of the Caño.

We will return to La Manigua Lodge to pack our things and return to La Macarena by canoe. Depending on the flight schedule we will have time for lunch.

Transfer to the airport.

Farewell at the airport.

If the return flight is very early on the last day, a sunrise over the Guayabero River is organized.

1. Los Pianos Trail (High DIFFICULTY)

-Caño Escondido.

2. Salto del Aguila Trail (high difficulty)

If you are going to cancel your trip:

1. Cancellations must be made 5 days prior to the departure date and 90% of the reservation deposit will be refunded, apart from any deductions or penalties previously established by the suppliers, when the services are not used. This refund will be made within 30 calendar days from the date the claim is made. If the cancellation is not made 5 days in advance, the money will not be refunded. 

2. If the client does not show up for the trip, no refund will be made.

3. In the event that the user of the tourist services, fails to use the agreed services, whatever the cause, the Agency may require at its option the payment of 20% of the total price or rate established or retain the deposit or advance previously received from the user.

4. In fortuitous cases (climatic changes, natural disasters, landslides, mishaps in air, land or river transportation) in which the trip has to be cancelled, Colombia Oculta will return 90% of the deposit of the reservation.
